Scarlet Phaudid Moth (Zygaenidae Phaudinae Phauda mimica - Walker, )

Hsun-Cheng Chang found the larvae in Southern Taiwan in March, 2002.   The images below are from his photographs.  The set position is a scanned image.  The moths are quite active after their wings are dried.  LFP is Ficus microcarpa.

The newly emerged moth in rest position.


The top and underside of a female moth.
Wingspan was 2.4 cm / 0.9 inch.
The male looks similar, but a little smaller.
