A mature 2nd (?) instar, Oct 23, 2002.
The larva was 4 cm / 1.6 inches long at this stage.
The 3rd (?) instar stage, Oct 27, 2002; length was
4.4 cm / 1.7 inches
Note the green tail spike; P. increta has a dark brown
(or black) spike.
Note the absense of any lateral spotting which is
present on P. increta.
The final instar stage, Oct 27, 2002; length
was 6.9 cm / 2.7 inches

The pupa was about 5.7 cm / 2.3 inches long.
Pupation of the mature instar above occurred about
Oct 29, 2002.
As with P. increta, the pupa was formed underground.
The longer "tongue tube" marks this certainly as a
different species from P. increta.
