Marumba Hawk Moth (Sphingidae SmerinthinaeMarumba drayas - Walker, 1856)

(MV) Light trapped at Kadoorie Research Center on Dai Mo Shan, Shek Kong, Hong Kong on October 1, 1999.  An earlier specimen had been caught at the same location and conditions by Roger Kendrick on July 21, 1997.  Ova and larvae of all instars were found on April 29, 2003 feeding on Microcos paniculata at Tai O, Lantau Island.  Other larvae were found on May 20, 2003 feeding on Firmiana simplex at Choi Sai Woo Park, North Point.  Three 3rd or 4th instar larvae were also found on October 20, 2005, feeding on Sterculia lanceoloata at Tai Tam Country Park, Shau Kei Wan, all in Hong Kong.
