Leafroller moth  (Crambidae Pyraustinae Glyphodes bivitralis - Guenee)

Found as a caterpillar in Mau Lau Shan (Monkey Hill), Shatin.  It was in the rolled leaf of a Coral Tree (Pap. Erythrina speciosa).  Also found some larvae feeding on Ficus variolosa on Braemar Hill, North Point and along Wan Chai Gap Road in August, 2000.


A nearly mature larva found 21 August, 2000
in a typical folded leaf shelter of Ficus variolosa.


The mature larva, 10 days later.
It was about 25 mm / 1 inch long.

The loose cocoon and pupa are formed inside a leafroll.


The pupa was formed on 27 September, 2000.
Note the typical wingtip "spikes".
