Hong Kong Fritillary  (Nymphalidae Nymphalinae Argyreus hyperbius - Linnaeus, 1763)

Two catepillars were found at Choi Sai Woo Park, North Point, Hong Kong on June 18, 2000, climbing a tree to pupate.  The LFP is various kinds of Viola spp (Violets).  I observed some violets growing at the base of the tree on which the caterpillars were climbing.  Both caterpillars eclosed as males.  A female was taken on July 4, 2003, also at Choi Sai Woo.
