Prominent Moth (Notodontidae Pygaerinae Clostera restitura - Walker, 1865)

One larva was found at Braemar Hill, North Point, Hong Kong, on December 27, 2001.  The foodplant was Homalium cochinchinensis.


This was the next to last instar;
length of larva is about 1.3 cm / 0.5 inch


Final instar; the larva has just shed its skin.
January 3, 2002.


A fully mature larva; length was 2.54 cm / 1 inch.


The cocoon and pupa formed in a folded over leaf on January 9, 2002.

It eclosed on January 19, 2002.

The wingspan of this male moth is about 3 cm / 1.2 inches.
