Noctuid moth (Noctuidae Catocalinae Pangrapta obscurata - Butler, 1879)

Found two larvae feeding on Ligustrum sinense on December 13, 2002 at Choi Sai Woo Park, Braemar Hill, North Point, Hong Kong.



Final instar larva;


The larvae can be found on the underside of the leaves.


The cocoon is rather loose;
Pupa was 14 mm / 0.6 inch long
December 14, 2002


The moth in rest position;
The leading edges of the forewings are slightly curled upward.
Eclosure was January 27, 2003.
 

Top and bottom views of the moth;
The wingspan is about 3 cm / 1.1 inches.
