Imiid Moth (Imiidae Moca spp - )

Found as about 30 larvae descending from multiple silk strands from the skeletonized leaves of their foodplant in Choi Sai Woo park, North Point, Hong Kong on February 20, 1999.  They pupated two days later.  The adult moths emerged on the 27th and 28th.  Only about 3-4 of the moths were male and all of the first ones to emerge were female.

This larva is already shrunk in preparation for pupation.
Original length was about 21 mm / 0.8 inch.

The cocoons were barely noticeable on the
undersides of the leaves of their foodplant.
Pupation took only about 5 days.

the male is on the left; female on the right.
Wingspan was about 18 mm / 0.7 inches.

This is a much reduced image of a typical leaf from
the foodplant.  Note that it has seven leaflets, slightly
serated and ending in definite points.  The mature leaves
were about 8-10 inches across on a tree about 6-7 meters tall.
