Inchworm moth (Geometridae Ennominae Hyposidra infixaria - Walker, 1860)

Found as a caterpillar in North Point the middle of September, 1998.  It was feeding on new leaves of a Tangerine tree. It also had no trouble eating the leaves of a Gat Jai [round Kumquat] tree.  Larvae have also since been found on a large variety of other plants, including Evodia lepta, Macaranga tanarius (Euphorb.) [Elephant Ear Tree], and Erythrina speciosa (Pap.) [Coral Tree].

The new larva was reddish purple in color.

The mature larva was 43 mm / 1.7 inches long.
