Hong Kong Lantern Fly (Homoptera Fulgoridae Pyrops candelarius - Linnaeus, 1758)

Caught at Kadoorie Research Center, Daai Mo Shan, Hong Kong on February 14, 2000.   I had seen several specimens previously flying among and resting on Acacia trees at Shing Mun Reservoir during June.  They have a song like a cicada, but much more melodius and chirping.  There is a rare, small moth whose larvae parasitizes this species of Fulgoroid.

Length was about 5.2 cm / 2.0 inch, from wing tip to nose tip
