Hong Kong Water Strider (Hemiptera Gerridae Metrocoris sp - )

Found at Braemar Hill, North Point, Hong Kong on July 4, 2003.   It is called "water strider" because of its ability and behavior of walking on the water surface of small streams and pond edges due to surface tension.  Identification is according to Prof. David Dudgeon of  the University of Hong Kong in communication with Clive Lau.

Body length was about 6 mm / 0.24 inches
