Tiger Moth (Arctiinae Nyctamera tripunctaria)

Taken at Braemar Hill (Choi Sai Woo Park), North Point, Hong Kong on April 10, 1999.   The larva below was found on Nov 23, 1999 on a wall at Quarry Bay School on Braemar Hill.  The foodplant is still unobserved.


A partial cluster of an egg mass of about 30 eggs, laid on April 15;
The eggs are about 0.7 mm / 0.03 inch diameter.

This mature larva was found on Nov 23, 1999.
It began forming a cocoon about a week later.
Larval comparison should be made with Nyctemera adversata .


The cocoon and pupa were complete on Dec 2, 1999.
The moth emerged on Dec 9, 1999.
